I have no preference but I should tell you that sometimes the two categories converge. Because to try harder is a characteristic of smart people - of course there are the natural, who are effortlessly smart.
Naturally, there are people who try hard and can't get where they want to but the effort should be recognised. But,truth be told,in the end what counts is what you do - not the intention, so the smarter tend to win. I don't prefer any. But I try hard everyday...

Is this an option? Smart people who try hard.
Trying hard and not being smart is pathetic; being smart and not trying hard is useless. By the way what's the standard of reference?
