If we live in a free country, where we are allowed to practice our beliefs. Why deny someone else the same privelige?
I'm a Conservative and I don't agree with the act of homosexuality, but what right under the constitution do I have to deny others their freedom to live as they choose? Are rights only for those I agree with? What about those who don't agree with Christianity or anything else you like to do? What will you say when people want to ban them?
In the Bible I've read I didn't see Jesus running around trying to ban things and control what people did. In fact he associated with publicans and sinners. If he came back today would you also lynch him like they did?
Why not just leave other people alone and work on being the best example you can be.

Joe I don't recall saying it would be sanctioned by God. Surely it wouldn't. I'm only saying we live in a free society.

I agree with you.
It isn't our place to decide what is moral or not... That's God's job, so I'll leave everyone to deal with their relationship with God.
Live by example and let people learn by watching and asking questions, rather than shoving any religion down their throat.

Well, it certainly raises the question of how something which is identical to marriage can be treated differently from a marriage. Is my marriage to my wife a marriage, or is it identical to marriage as defined by the State, and so unconstitutional? Personally I fell the law should be enforced, all marriages since 2005 revoked, and let the People know just how screwed up it is to deny someone marriage.

Marriage is between one man and one woman. Allowing same sex marriages diminishes the sanctity of that relationship. Perhaps same sex couples can have some sort of formal ceremony giving them whatever legal status they don't already have, but not "marriage". Some are not looking just for equal status with heterosexuals, although they say they are, they have a need to interfere with said sanctity.

They had an alternative called Civil Unions and the activists didn't support it.
Why should gay marriage be sanctioned by God? Why should people whose God created marriage be ignored?

Marriage is between one man and one woman. I do not care what consenting adult do in private, but I do not want to be society to be forced to accept a different definition of marriage. If you are going to allow same sex marriages, why not polygamy? Where do you stop?
If people want to have a relationship that is fine. You can call it something but it is not marriage! They reason they want same sex marriage is to force employers to offer "family" benefits to their same sex partners! They want to force others to subsidize a lifestyle that they may not approve of!
I an tired of people trying to force the world to change from accepted norms to fit what they want!

marriage between consenting adults is not the governments business. nor is marriage sanctioned by "god." marriages have been happening before Christianity was invented by the pagans. how does two people in another part of the country getting married lessen your marriage? answer:it doesn't. only close-minded people believe that.

I'm on your side here, but in a way you still have it backwards IMO. It's not up to individuals to prove that they have this or that right. It's up to the government to prove that IT has the right to prohibit some activity, some choice. The government has this right ONLY when it MUST interfere in individuals' activities and choices in order to protect the rights of others. Since for one consenting adult to form a domestic partnership (or marriage or civil union or whatever you want to call it) with another does not infringe on the rights of others, the government does NOT have the right interfere in that activity.
Since we have freedom of religion, any church may certainly dispense or refuse to dispense its sacraments as it sees fit. But just as the government may not demand that any church declare sinful that which the government has determined to be illegal, so no church may demand that the government make illegal that which the church has determined to be sinful.

I agree completely and I am as well a traditional Conservative. This country is full of liberty and freedom, so let them, whomever it is, get married. I may find it wrong personally, but why impose my beliefs on other people?
