i,v seen the same tree for 3 years and it keeps a few apples all year they dont fall off and the birds dont eat them why oh why its driving me mad

mine does... and if you pick them you will see the birds ARE eating them ;)

The apples dont fall off because it has not been cold enough. We need a bad winter for the fruit trees to drop all there fruit. I think the birds have not eaten them because the time of yr. We all throw out our xmas left overs.Roast Tats & Turkey much better than a apple

The birds are probably picking away at them. The persistant fruit will do that, hang on all winter. You must not have any squirrels in your neighborhood or you would not have them at all.

Don't let it worry you, there are many more things worth driving you crazy and wasting your worry on.

those were the last blossoms to be fertilized, the last fruits that just never made it to ripening.... they never got the 'signal' that they were 'done' and to release from the branch and fall before the tree went dormant.....

It varies by variety . Some are "persistent" ( that's the term) , some aren't . Of those that are , some are more persistent than others . Don't let it bother you .
