The husband has stopped drinking alcohol...used to drink like a fish

He used to smoke 3 packs or so a day, he just up and quit.

Says he is not going to just stay around the house anymore, the wife better be ready to be on the move, going out and what not.

What the hell has gotten into him and how does she help?

She's confused and when she asked me, I am as well!!

Sounds like he has maybe had a medical scare that he isn't telling her about?

She should definitely sit him down and get him to tell her what's happened.

He is cheating. He is doing this for his mistress. Teach your friend the facts of life and you might as well learn them too:

1. There is no Santa
2. There might be a Bigfoot
3. All men cheat, almost all women cheat
4. Marriage ruins relationships (moving in is the same)
5. Everyone lies (you even lie to yourself)
6. Life is not fair

Good luck and Happy Holidays. Email me if you want to
hear the truth. You can ask me anything. I don't lie unlike
the other answers you will get. You still don't believe me? Both of you go check your man's cell phone records for
a few months including his work cell phone. Check all his email addresses including his work email not just the email address he uses with you. If you want to keep living in your fantasy world keep lying to yourself and don't check!!!

It is great that he quit two destructive habits, but I am like you wondering what brought this on so suddenly. It is usually a battle to quit drinking or smoking. Maybe he had an epiphany, or he could have gotten some news from his doctor that shocked him into a change. Why doesn't she ask him what is going on?

that's good if the husband turn out to be better where he changed his habits then why the wife still complaining? something should be happen in between them as the husband realise his mistakes and wants to have a normal routine life without bad habits, he may concentrate on his work as well as his family so ask the wife to encourage him and keep a happy enviroment at home.

Since he as quite doing what always came natural to him, smoking and drinking, he needs something to fill the hole. Its usually a good thing that he wants to get active because it shows that he is tring to keep his mind off of the smoking and drinking. Its when the do nothing that you want to worry!

It sounds to me that he became disgusted with the way he was destroying his body and wants to improve himself. Since he stated that he wanted his wife to be part of it, I suggest she look at herself and see if she needs any improvement also. I see this as a positive step in the relationship and she has the opportunity to solidify their bond by being supportive and part of it.
