First of all, I have no respect for Catholic schools. They have tolerated and condoned physical abuse and abusive emotional humiliation against students for decades. I do not think public schools are horrible. Some are. Some private schools are worse. If you can afford it, fit the school to the student - I would have been better off in a private school, but my sister thrived in public school with all the opportunities. We also went to amazingly different sized schools - I graduated with fewer than 200 students. My sisters graduated with more than 800. On the plus side, 90% of the students in my class went on to college, more than half in science disciplines. Only about 40% of the catholic school kids went on to college, only 2 went on to science disciplines (no math - I don't think they even had calculus. I know they didn't have physics or chemistry). The majority of the smartest people on the planet (scientists, teachers, doctors, physicists, policy makers, etc.) went to public school. Interestingly, a large number (although I don't know if it is a majority) of huge swindlers went to private schools. George Carlin went to Catholic school. Hmmm.. Two of my aunts went to Catholic schools solely because there was no public school available within 25 miles.

No, not all do. I went to a private Christian school for four years. I think they have to wear uniforms now though: a collared shirt and dress pants or a knee-length skirt. Most will have uniforms. Have a happy holiday season!

i went to catholic school for 12 years and wore uniforms but they weren't bad, it was actually nice to not have to worry about what I wore. I know of some private schools wear there is a dress code but not uniforms (dress pants, shirts, and ties for boys and appropriate dress pants and shirts or knee length skirts for girls)

my daughter went to catholic schools and in elementary they wore uniforms. in junior high and high school they did not wear uniforms but had very strict dress codes. where i live all the city schools wear uniforms to cut down on the number of attacks on kids by those who wanted to steal their clothes and or shoes. the rules about uniforms and shoes and accessories are also very strict and has made going to school safer for the kids.

Some do not, although the research shows that kids who wear uniforms take their education more seriously and show more respect for their teachers, their fellow classmates and themselves when they wear uniforms.

my middle school required a uniform (guys wore one thing, girls wore another, but everyone dressed the same)

my high school required a dress code (everyone had to wear a tie, dress pants/shirt, and sports jacket in the winter, but everyone rarely wore the same exact thing.)

I think so. All the schools I've gone to and the ones my daughter has gone to have always used them. I think they're great. Saves alot of money on clothes and alot of fights about what to where.

most do, yes. they're nice because you don't have to pick out what you want to wear in the morning. that's also the bad thing: no choice.
