This is similar to another question I answered, though a bit more blatant.
I don't go out of my way to correct spelling errors because a) I usually know what the person is saying and b) its a lesson in futility.
I do find it daunting that kids (mostly kids) don't even bother to try the correct use of the English language. Its a form of laziness and laziness bothers me.
We all make mistakes and I don't profess perfection. I make an embarrassing amount of grammatical errors for someone who claims to love writing.
When I see questions like "How what do you would do if..." it makes me shake my head but I don't hound the asker about it.

Your question should read :

"Why, oh why are people so uptight about spelling?

I mean, leave us alone sometimes. We just can't be......

.....And there you lost me. The atrociousness of your spelling has left me at a loss as to what is meant by that last word.

This illustrates the importance of proper spelling, grammar and punctuation.

There are quite a few questions turn up on here, if you want answers you ought to "sell" your question to readers in the hopes that they'll answer them, correct use of English is more likely to do that.

If you can't be bothered to write correctly why do you expect people to be bothered enough to answer your questions?

Im just an oldie ! but think spelling is very important, forget all this txt talk like b4 and m8 etc, spelling/grammar is showing respect to whoever you maybe writing to. To receive a letter no matter who from can be very special (unless it'sfrom your bank lol) and in this time and age letter writing is becomong a forgotten art, so you who cant be bovvad ! ask yourself would you like to receive a nicely written and well grammared letter, or you just happy with ello m8 !

Because we have spent thousands of years developing a language so that we can express the most complex of ideas

To write as you do suggests, to all and sundry, that your powers of reason and logic are sadly deficient.

Improper spelling makes you look like you don't have enough basic intelligence to be taken seriously. If you want people to actually take the time to respond to your questions intelligently, why the hell can't you take the time to figure out how to spell the words you are using to communicate properly? I mean, we're trying to have a civilization here...

i'm not as bad but sometimes if it is really to a point where i can't read it.. then i kind of wonder like "it only takes a second to click "check spelling" and maybe a minute to memorize what that word is..
that's all :)
we don't go to school for nothing right?
:)

Not me...

It bothers me!

How can a child learn to spell words like "filthy thief" when they are currently being pronounced as "filfy feef"?

AND you're 'bovvered' looked like 'bowered'... whereas 'bothered' would have looked like 'bothered!!!
