To listen to some of the people here at Y/A you'd think many of them think the Extremists and Liberals are one in the same, when in actuality it is the far right conservatives who more resemble what the Muslim Extremists represent. The Muslims just have a different God than the Christian right.

Both the Muslim Extremists and the Christian right want to exclude, do away with, or convert anyone not like them!

Quinn22: When was the last time a Muslim tried to convert you at knife point or at the end of the barrel of a gun or with a bomb?
Yours is a stupid arguement and Christians have bombed clinics and done atrocious things to people who belonged to different faiths and even their own fellow Christians even in the last Century!

American liberals without a doubt. Since the eighties they tried and partly succeeded in making liberal a dirty word.

American conservatism and Islamic extremism are both threats to our enlightened civilization.

They both have a cultist spirit where everyone who doubts their interpretation is a traitor and part of the evil outside world(infidels for Muslims but liberal bias for cons) They both put ideology before science and reason think junk science like creationism or intelligent design. They both are extremely religious and hostile towards gay people

Of course there are differences in methods and severity of hostility but can you deny the similarities? Will we be clever enough not to let ourselves be fooled to take a side but reject them both and choose rationality?
Who's protecting the enlightenment in this war on terror?

I have spent some time living in Muslim countries (17 months in Morocco and 11 months in Iraq). I was always treated kindly by the people. There are criminals in every group. By and large, Muslims are just like everyone else.

At the same time, Christians are not likely to attack anyone who is different from them. It is true that there are wackos who claim to be Christians in order to advance their agenda.

It is the politicians who vilify and demonize various groups based on their color, nationality or religious faith. That is how they control people.

The Nazis demonized the Jews. The Neo Cons are demonizing the Muslims. It's all about control: Divide and Conquer.

The radical sects in the Middle East today are following politicians who claim to be religious leaders. They attack whomever their "religious leader" tells them is their enemy.

It's politicians who start wars. They do this for their own aggrandisement. People need to wake up. When a politician tells you to hate a nationality, religious group or people because of the color of their skin, that politician is you enemy.

the rustic of Islam is a deceptive term. Mr. Farrakhan is obviously extremist, and that i do no longer think of there may be lots debate on that. The united states of america of Islam won't be Islamic as a results of fact it does not persist with mandated concepts. to illustrate, there at the instant are not any Friday prayers (mandatory for adult adult males in Islam) and prayers at the instant are not completed prostate (additionally mandatory). an mind-blowing style of the NOI stand at odds with something of Islam philosophically and theologically. So, the fast answer is that NOI is greater a character cult than that's Islam.

Taking into account all the democratic leaders who have been assassinated over the last 50 years how could the democrats withstand it. Still the assassinations go on when a strong democratic leader like Bhutto threaten to bring about change. Republicans just have this dogged perception that anyone that doesn't worship the same God as they do threaten their existance somehow.

although i think i concur with your perspective, some clarification is needed. conservative republicans with religious pomposity at their core have certainly done all they can to demonize those of the Muslim faith. they have done so in a manner that generalizes Islam as speaking with one voice. this is worthless bombast.

your second observation is also in need of clarification. those Christians with missionary zeal do not see their constriction of liberty "morality", as a bad thing. they crave do this and don't do that systems. it simplifies life. an insures others must agree with them. this perspective also exists in every other "scripture" based faith.

Well the Liberals are already here and hold power while the Muslims do not yet. We deal with the enemy closest.

As to Christians and Muslims being the same,,, well why don't you read this--- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Muslim_Brotherhood

I wouldn't say they've won that battle just yet...

Certain Republicans (not all) have tried to smear everyone else but I wouldn't call it a success.
