I had a mercury vapor light in my yard for many years. A couple of months ago I replaced it with a high pressure sodium dusk to dawn lamp. I cannot seem to find a metal halide dusk to dawn lamp. Do they even make these? Is there a way to convert a HPS lamp to a MH lamp. Or a MV to a MH lamp. I like Metal Halides because they are more energy efficient and bright.

You may be able to find a retrofit MH lamp that will operate on an HPS ballast. Check with your local lighting distributor to see what they have available.

You could always replace the ballast in the HPS lamp with a MH ballast but it would probably be cheaper to just buy a MH lamp with a photocell.

Both M.V. and Metal Halide, are LESS efficient
than H.P.S.
You're now getting more light for your Watt than before.
You'll get used to the yellow light eventually.
