Just wine and cheese with a few light snacks on a soft rug in front of a fireplace. And of course, my guitar where I can sing you a romantic song while looking into your eyes.

Oh my! Where should I start?
Normally I would say let's go out for a romantic dinner or bring some food in so you don't have to cook but you did say that "I want to make a romantic dinner for you...." The focal words being that you want to make the meal for me, so with that in mind. . . . .
A nice lacey table cloth on the table, a low flower arrangement in the middle, two long taper candles, one each side of the flowers, lit, and several other candle about the room, also lit. There should be enough light from the candles to eat by without any artificial light of any kind.
In the background, from another room, preferrably. Some nice soft, instrumental, romantic music should be playing. Nothing overpowering, not loud enough to interfere with normal conversation or even some whispered conversation. In a romantic setting, talking isn't always done in a normal volume of our voices. Instead we talk softly to each other.
For food? Nothing messy. On a night like this, I want to eat my food, not wear it. It should be something light on the stomach, some of it should be finger food, for sharing. Seafood fits that description well. Calamari as an appetizer maybe some gator tail to go with it for variety. A good white wine along with the meal would be good as well. The main meal can be a combination of steamed and broiled shrimp with some quality cocktail sauce, some good fried clams as well. Some red potatoes and green beans fixed with almonds to go with the seafood. A light orange cheese cake with some Cool Whip topping for desert.
Just keep in mind, for something like this, the romance doesn't come from the candles, food or drink, but from each other. Enjoy!
Good luck.
We should sit at the table at right angles to each other so that we can be close yet still see each other as we talk and eat. It allows for stolen kisses and sharing of the food it so inclined.

If you want to make me a romantic dinner, then bring a hot guy, because I am not into romance with women.

probably varies from person to person.....i like to stick the word "relaxing" in there..ya know...a "romantic, relaxing" dinner. maybe low lights, some candles, some wine, soft music playing.fixing a meal that is not an unbelievable amount of work (cooking a whole turkey is a pain in the you-know-what) helps add to the atmosphere....if YOU are relaxed, your date will be!

Well done steak, baked potatoes with sour cream, green beans and a Caesars salad. Make it a candle light dinner.

Be sure to have plenty of alcohol. I don't usually do "romantic" with girls, but with enough Rhine Wine, I could.
And, candles.
