My motherboard has 4 ram slots. it is able to support 4gb ram for 32 bit.... and 8gb for 64 bit os. Right now, I have two 1-gig sticks running in dual channel. they are both the same brand and the same amount of memory.
Now I have 2 ram slots left.
Im planning to get a pair of 512mb sticks..... will all my ram run in dual channel if my ram arrangement is like this:

Slot1: 1GB
Slot2: 1GB
Slot3: 512MB
Slot 4: 512MB

Slot 1 and 2 are yellow, slot 3 and 4 are black.

i just built my computer couple days ago... and i installed vista in it.... 2gb is still kinda low for my applications.....

the onyl reason why they are different color is bcause to indicate that 2 same ram of the same color is dual channel....

yes they are the same when i built my computer i put a ram stick in the yellow slot on accident, i only removed the ram on the yellow slot because the other ram is already placed in the black slot.

the different color ram slots are the SAME. it says on manual too.

Since all the DIMM slots are the same, your proposed RAM configuration should work great in dual channel mode.

STOP. Read your manual for the Motherboard. Pay attention to the slots, are they the same length? If the slots are different color, they are probably not the same technology. Therefore you can use only two of them at any time. If you were to fill all out and they are indeed different technology you could end up frying your machine. I mean, your motherboard and CPU would go belly up.
