The kilt is not a thing that is worn every day in Scotland. It is nearly 100% worn when a man gets married, and most of the guests at the wedding wear them.
The photographer usually has a photo taken of the bride surrounded by all the kilten men and kids.
My son got one made for his 8 month old son at my daughters wedding.
Most men wear nothing under the kilt as that is the Scottish tradition. You're considered a chicken if you wear anything.
A lot of young men wear the kilt without the accessories to attend football matches abroad or go to Scottish concerts or to New Year gatherings.
My elder son went on a motorbike tour of France with his friend. They wore the kilt the whole holiday.
There is nothing sexier than seeing a man with the whole kilt outfit on. Along with the skean dhu, socks. and jacket.
Look up pics online and see how smart they are. Scotland must have the best national dress of them all.

A friend of mine who went to school in Edinburg told me that it is true - nothing between the kilt and the skin, if you know what I am saying.
