Is there anything IN the lease about being let out early? Some do have such clauses.
If not, and there probably is not, then you are on the hook for the rest of the lease.
However, you may be able to get the landlord to work out a deal with you. Things to consider:
can you find him a suitable replacement tenant (a de novo lease)?
can you sublet--again his approval is required and you are still on the line for the rent, but the sublettor should pay YOU so you can pay him
would he take 2 months rent and let you out? or some such deal--he will have costs he didn't anticipate and this is not a great time of the year to be locating new tenants
In any case, you can't just skip out, so speak to him ASAP and see what can be worked out.
Good luck to you both.

Ask! Seriously if there is a waiting list or someone interested in your apartment then most landlords will be happy to let you out of the lease (and probably up the rent for the next tennant).
Read your lease and see if you can sublet, or what the terms for breaking the lease might be. Relocation for another job might be a good enough reason for you to leave, even if the landlord doesn't want to let you out. Check out what the state of Texas says here about rentals:

You either have to sublet the apartment or try to work something out with the owner. Perhaps you could tell the owner you will stay until he has someone. And you will let him keep your deposit for the inconvience. It is tough to get out of a lease you know, I wish you well.

Hmmm..if we break our lease, I believe the landlord only keeps our deposite. Is it a company that leases to you or a single person. It is harder when its a company. If its a person, try to offer to find someone to replace you, or sublet until the lease is up.

IDK you could just tell your landlord you need to move to be closer to the job and ask her if you can get out of the lease or at least sublet it. Oh and talk to the owner not the control freak at the office.
