My mobile home has developed a few drain issues. First, when my washing machine drains, the kitchen sink gurgles (separate rooms). This isn't such a big deal, just annoying.

Second, and this is a more recent problem, my second bathroom toilet acts as if it is stopped up. When I use the plunger on it, it forces everything back up the sink drain. Is this a major blockage, or some other issue?

You mention a second bath... so here is how your drain is laid out:

In the space between the floor joists and the underbelly insulation and plastic, there is a drain line run from the second bath, to the master bath, where the main drop is usually located. At this point, the drain line comes thru the underbelly, and then you have another drain line that runs from the main drop, to your main sewer connection (where the drain goes down into the ground)

Your description sounds like you have a blockage in the first drain line (in between the underbelly, and floor joists), most likely before it reaches the main drop. You will have to cut into the underbelly to access this line, and clean it out. Or, have a plumber come in and run a 'snake' down thru the toilet. (Roto-rooter, etc)

Good Luck

I'd say a major blockage somewhere down the line. The toilets are usually hooked to a 3" or 4" line that should head right for the main drain in the center of the pad, the sink should be tapped in somewhere close under the floor of the bathroom, that means there's proably a plug somewhere close to the main line going into the ground.

Before suggesting anything else, I would buy at least 2 gallons of professional strenght drain opener (not the Draino crap, the real potent stuff with pictures of skeletons on it LOL). Pour some of this in every drain, even the drain INSIDE the tank on the toilet. (They all say not to use on toilets, but I always have w/o a problem. Just flush several times before you take your next seat).
Make sure you let the stuff sit for a half hour or so, then hot water where possible on all drains, and flush toilets several times. Repeat this process for a few days.
If this doesn't help, invest in a snake, at leat 25', and make sure its the kind that has a winder on it that allows you to twist the snake. Try to snake the main line first, I think thats where you have a clog.
**For the drain opener, try to find one that dissolves grease, hair AND soap scum. Many of these do not disolve soap, and thats what could be clogged up in there.

Sounds like a blockage to me. Being a mobile home it shouldn't be hard to disconnect the drainage pipe and give it a reverse flush with a hose.

I had the same problem, but the drain wasn't clogged. One of the support straps for the sewer line had broken. All the REPAIR PERSON had to do was install a new one. $50.00
