They are the other half of the government . One side wants one thing and the other side something different .
This is used to divide people .
The fact is the government wants the guns banned .
With the people disarmed it will be much easier to exert complete control over the citizenry .
We must never give up our guns .
I understand guns are used to kill people but I would rather lose a few thousand people a year to gun deaths then lose the freedoms we have left to a society that can not defend itself from the state .
The government or the State has always been the enemy of the ordinary people and once they can no longer defend themselves the State will rule with an Iron fist .

My grandparents used guns to defend themselves from Sheriff Blair and other assorted government goons in the war to make organized labor legal in this nation. The principle of government by the consent of the governed is meaningless unless the governed have the means to withdraw that consent. Gun regulation reform, YES. An absolute ban, NO.

It doesn't surprise me that a city would vote to ban guns. Most people in a city have no use for them. And to suggest that it was passed by only Democrats is as stupid as the NRA slogans on here. And yes, I am a gun owner.

Because they lack faith in the general public's judgement. This is typical of the liberal mindset, we are too weak or ignorant to take care of ourselves, it's the government's job to take care of us. Liberals want to control every aspect of our lives (for example socialized health care, medicaid, social security etc.). If we are permitted to have guns, we pose a threat to tyranny and they also feel that we are not responsible enough to have them.
