How did you measure the amount of melanin? Did you take into account how many generations that they had been there and did you consider actual natives i.e. aborigines or just the "recent" immigrants.

The point here is that it takes about 30 to 50 thousand years for a people to increase their melanin levels, and this is with a stable population, not one where there is a large amount of influx from other areas.

Most Australians are of European descent with the vast majority being from Britain and Ireland. People from northern Europe have very little melanin in their bodies ... my dad is Polish and he's extremely white and under the sun he just turns pink, not any darker.

A great deal of Australians have English heritage, most of the English convicts were sent to Australia and they just never left, settling and raising their families out there. And the majority of the English had the lighter colouring, including blond(e) hair and blue eyes.
Actually if you took a lot of Australians out of that climate and put them in a duller one their hair would probably turn mousy brown, that happened to a few relatives and mates who had been living out there. The sun has a bleaching effect on their hair.

You seem unaware of the facts concerning Australia.

The majority of the population of Australia is descended from European immigrants. The previous population (Australian Aboriginies) is now in the minority but has very black skin full of melanin.

It varies depending how much you are in the sun. If you are rarely in the sun your skin will be lighter with less melanin. It is likely that white people are light skinned to allow for increased production of vitamin D.

Because you didn't think your question through before making yourself sound like a bit of a twit! LOL!

The only truly INDIGENOUS Australians are all black. Very black. People with your apparent level of education usually call them "aborigines"....The white people you see in Australia today are just recent immigrants & the descendants of English convicts sent there when it was a penal colony around the 1830's.

Plonker!
