There's no real answer to that question since no one can prove that anything really exists for any particular purpose (nature isn't perfectly designed, as many people tend to believe). Also, no answer can be absolutely correct, they'll all be theories. That said, the most likely theory for why cockroaches are useful, is that they eat a lot of dead and rotting organic matter. They essentially "clean up" the world. It's funny considering most people think of cockroaches as being dirty and disgusting, which is true to an extent but not necessarily more so than other creatures who get no negative attention whatsoever. Not to mention the majority of cockroach species don't cohabit with humans at all.

I don't give a **** why or what their purpose is... I don't have a problem with them, until they come into my home... if I see them outside... it's okay.. just another living creature carrying out it's life... but THE moment them bastards enter my home... it's ******* war! I hate those little bastards.... well.... now I'm getting so used to them that I see one.. and I'm like wassup buddy? Yeah me too...

Cockroaches exist because they are adaptable and highly resistant to the haggard enviroment around them. They eat food of almost any kind..like the rat.

Roaches eat dead and rotting matter that would otherwise pile up and choke the plants. This also puts nutrients that plants need back into the soil. Fungi also do this. Plus, the hissing cockroaches are fun to pet :-P

They shouldn't exist at all...there are others who will serve nature and stay in their natural habitats and not scurry in our homes.

Nothing serves nature. Plants and animals adapt to niches where they can reproduce.

when someone dies and gets buried, the cockroaches eat the corpse of the deceased. So they help in decomposition of dead matter. About 100s and 100s of roaches swarm the coffin of the deceased and within days the body is consumed.
This is why i feel cremation is better than burial.

Creatures do not "serve nature". The creatures ARE nature. It is not necessary to have a purpose to exist.
