I keep hearing them complain about people wanting handouts, and they always bring up the fictional "welfare queen." Don't they know the system was reformed 11 years ago? The way it is set up now a person can't receive welfare for more than 5 years, and in most states you have to have a job to receive benefits. The fact is the issue was resolved back in 1996 so there is no reason to keep harping on this issue. Maybe you should spend more time complaining about corporate welfare.

Welfare queens and kings got washed out of New Orleans? More like they were too poor to be able to move even when a natural disaster was bearing down on them.
Republicans won't be satisfied until money stops going to American citizens so that they can have a population of completely subservient workers for their corporate master's factories.

Yeah, they know it. They are the ones who "reformed" the welfare system. And, as usual, left the states and local governments to cope with the mess they made.
Like--they didn't get around to providing for job training programs. Or chld-care. Nor did they get around to eliminating the disincentives that penalize a family with two parents present. Nor did they do anything about the inner city schools that are the breeding ground for long-term welfare.
Another example: the LARGEST group of recipients are (whte) women with chldren whose husbads have divorced them. Thier reforms did nothing to make these men more accountable for the resulting poverty their (ex)wives and children suffer.
the "reforms" haven't resolved anything--they've jsut made an even worse mess that the Democrats are going to have to try to clean up. Which isn't much better--they are no better at devloping and implementing welfare programs tha twork than the GOP. but at least they do see that most of the people who need help get it.

bush and the Republicans flushed the financial kit down the lavatory long in the previous Obama ever grew to boost into president. A conflict in Iraq costing billions and deregulation did some thing. Our financial kit after 2001 became rather worse than it regarded. without the conflict fabrics costs puffing up business enterprise business enterprise we could have crashed speedier. Obama and the stimulus saved us from plenty worse. He rather primary that a 2d stimulus bell became mandatory yet via that element the Republicans had administration of the residing domicile so it had no danger of passing. Obama has to merchandising campaign for president, the senate and the residing domicile beginning up now. the only thank you to extremely improve into wealthy as a usa is to defeat as many republicans as obtainable particularly the Teabaggers alongside with Democrats in call in hassle-unfastened words. they're rather brokers in conceal for the Republicans. Obama is beginning to try this yet he's plenty gentler than optimal Democrats prefer. we can see how subject concerns bypass in early 2012. i've got have been given self assurance that Obama could be doing a decrease and burn on any Republican bill that caters to their financial supporters. there'll be weeping and gnashing of the tooth on their area and cheers from some thing people.

I do complain about corporate welfare, not just corporations as does the typical liberal. My problem with welfare is that 2/3 of it is going to illegal aliens who don't deserve it.
All an illegal alien has to do is have a baby in this country and they're instantly eligible for welfare.

It was the Republicans, mainly Newt Gingrich, who reformed Welfare. They did not make it perfect and unfortunately did not eliminate it entirely. Look how many welfare queens and kings got washed out of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Evidently you haven't taken a look at the federal budget lately. Well over half of the budget goes for entitlements.

I agree, it's not working, and we DO need to eliminate it. It is not helping with the poverty level. It is just teaching a lower class of people, and their children, that they can get through life getting something for nothing.
