I don't think legislating gun regulations means anyone is trying to keep those who can own firearms from having them.

Some people aren't supposed to own firearms and I think creating waiting periods to ensure legal ownership should be accepted by law abiding citizens.

Is there a link to some credible organized group trying to take weapons ownership from U.S. citizens?

Nice try. If you look at every society in the past that has confiscated citizens' firearms - most notably in Nazi Germany and the USSR, the initial phase involved gun registration, for no other reason than to identify those with firearms in preparation for confiscation. It's certainly no myth that the vast majority of people who want guns registered , surrendered for reward, or simply confiscated. are Democrats. Republicans, by and large, understand and believe in the 2nd Amendment, which was adopted for the express purpose of denying the government the power to disarm the citizenry. Waiting periods and background checks are already in place and have been for over 20 years.

the two genuine political events in u . s . of america are the Winners and the Losers. the persons do no longer renowned this. Then, we sell off the national telephone itemizing and vote for Ralph Nader. The problem is not a Democratic/Republican issue. The issue is that law abiding citizens are more than happy to follow gun control regulations. The CRIMINALS that are not to have guns, and are the ones that will use the guns for crime, will not follow gun control regulations.

Its frustrating when people think up rules or regulations on something that is our Constitutional Right, to try to curb bad behavior on people who only believe in their own rights.

Since the 1960s, the Democrats wanted to disarm the population, until the last couple of elections. They at least stopped PUBLICLY calling for gun bans. It was an issue that was costing them votes.

Do a Google search on "gun control" and democrats, and you'll see it's no myth. Please educate yourself.

The Brady Bill imposed waiting periods and background checks on gun buyers. Who was to pay for these background checks? The gun buyers were. First time in history citizens were forced to pay money to exercise a Constitutional right.

Waiting periods stop no one. There's no evidence anyone determined to murder was stopped because they were refused an immediate gun sale.

The regressive American right who prefer to fight a fictional enemy to whom they can attribute all kinds of weird ideas and positions because when it comes to real ideas and ideology they will always loose. Their ideas can't win elections so they have to scare people and demonize the other side

The problem with conservatives isn't the everyday conservatives themselves; it's the people they listen to. Conservative leaders, in their vilification of liberals, tell so many lies about what liberals are supposed to believe, support, say, do, etc., that the everyday conservatives end up hating a fictional enemy. If what the pundits said about liberals was true, I'd be a hardcore conservative.

If liberals were so terrible, these pundits and politicians would have no reason to lie at all. They could just recite facts and let them stand for themselves. Instead they take part in character assassination and avoid speaking about actual issues. They make blanket statements that have no basis in fact. What's worse is that many of them cloak their rhetoric in a pseudo-Christian guise to act as if God is somehow on their side (even though the Bible basically tells them to pray quietly and stay out of politics).

Virtually all of the lies that are told about liberals are easily shattered with the barest attempt at rationality and reason. The facts stand for themselves, yet so much mud is slung that the facts are like gems buried under several feet of mud. The facts are there, and are obvious and clear, but unfortunately one must dig through all the crap that is spewed in order to bring them to light. When one digs a handful of it away, the pundits are expert at piling on even more crap, or more often, will distract and divert away from the digging.

Not all Democrats are anti-2nd amendment, and anti-gun ownership. But many are, especially the left-leaning liberal leadership of the party.

I have always been a Dem; but will never be a liberal.

Because they tend to believe any piece of untruth or propaganda they hear. These are the same that think Iraq was the villains behind 9/11. That the economy is in great shape and that man Bush can do no wrong.

It was probably me when I said I am a Democrat, and I say that some arms have to be well-regulated and not allow citizens to own them.
