We live in a universe full of integers as when everthing is put to basics it is an integernumber of quarks or strings for that matter. Is it possible for a number with an infinite level of decimal figures to exist.

Pythagoras himself made a similar argument and refused to believe that irrational numbers in general, and the square root of two in particular, could actually exist.

For the last couple thousand years, mathematicians have pretty much unanimously agreed that Pythagoras was wrong. They do exist. The square root of two in particular is the length from corner to corner or a square which is one unit on each side. I guess the question is, do you believe that a square exists?

A number is not a physical entity - it is not bound by the laws of physics.

If numbers exist, the square root of 2 exists.
