Many questions to ask yourself before you chose the best pet. How much time do you plan on spending interacting with it? The closer you become with your pet of any kind you will find it will bond to you.
Look where you live,on a farm in a condo? Chose the best pet for your environment .
Happy , fed and loved any animal can be The Best Pet.
Good Luck!

It depends highly on what breed of dog (or cat) that you get and if they have been properly socialized or not. A well socialized animal should be pretty cuddly, but just like people, every animal will have a unique temperament that you probably won't learn about until the animal is at your home.
Again, if you go to a reputable breeder, they will be able to tell you about the temperament of each animal they sell, which can save you a lot of heartache down the road.
Good luck and I hope you find one that you can love forever.

This would depend on your interests & the particular animal's personality. Dogs are cuddly & come when you call them & *usually* don't give you any attitude (but this can vary). Rats are also surprisingly cuddly & will come when you call them & *most* of the rats I've known are very easy-going. Some ppl don't think of cats fitting into this category, but our cats also love to cuddle & usually come when they're called. Our guinea pig loves to cuddle when it's *his* idea.
