I don't know where you heard that. I'm British and can testify to the fact that the majority of people in Britain fall into the category of "simple but violent".

You may be confusing the British people with the Irish people. The Irish are a warm, friendly and hospitable lot. Great Britain has ritually invaded and claimed to own nearly a third of planet earth, the Brits have either started or finished every defining war of almost every century in the history of mankind. Football hooliganism is at its worst in Great Britain and a trip to a pub in most towns in Great Britain will undoubtedly see you at least spectate at a brawl.

Hope that helps!

Hospitality is usually within the person, not because of where they are from, I have had both good and bad experiences with the British people, just like with Americans. =)

No, if you walk down town on a Saturday night you're more likely to get Hospitalised than Hospitality.

No clue. I love British people, though! I haven't met anyone British who is mean, thus far. They're just jolly good people with bloody awesome skills and killer accents. I love them!

Hahaha. No. I live in England and (depending where you are admittedly), people can be the grumpiest, self-centred sods or the friendliest, warmest people you could meet. Mostly the first one though.

I think the stereotype is they have very good manners. But I'm sure many of them are very hospitable!
