Unless you are being beaten or abused profusely, don't go though. Yes you can leave at 16, but most who do are either pregnant, in jail, or dead by the age of 18.

At sixteen, in the UK, you are considered adult, in that you are allowed to make your own decisions legally - you can have sex, leave home and open a bank account. This still doesn't allow you to drive, drink or smoke, however.
