could the myths be set in a different time and place and still have the same effect?

yes they can have the same entertainment and educational value. like you can ttake the odyssey and set it in a space ship travelling to the planet of ithaca, or any other such combinations. lots of writers actually use myths as a basis for their story.

Some were... as Roman Myths... and some of the Greek Myths were borrowed from the Babylonian Myths..

Some of them could, at least the ones that impart some form of wisdom. Actually if you compare the plot lines to other stories, you may find them already repeated in various forms.
