What are some things that Indians and their culture are about?

I want to learn more about Indians, their culture, food, everything. I'm Korean, by the way, and I want to learn so I can better understand. I'd rather ask my boyfriend but since he's in India right now on vacation and for a family wedding he's too far away to contact and he won't be back until the end of January.. ^^;

If the question is too broad, then maybe some suggestions about learning more about this topic or links would be nice too. Oh, and I want to learn about cricket too, he /loves/ cricket. I'm trying to learn about tennis so I can understand what he's talking about when he speaks of his tennis games.

It is a very broad question and would take too long to cover all the aspects. There are similarities although slightly changed. I suggest reading on several of these topics.

Buddhism and Hinduism ( I assume you are Buddhist, coming from Korea. Buddha was originally a Brahman Hindu Prince and practised the Hindu religion. Most Indians are religiously Hindu).

Look at the differences in the "Ramayana" story between the story as told & danced in Korea compared with how it is told and danced in India.

Study the Hindu "Caste System". I suggest this because it affects how a person is treated and looked upon by other Indians. It would also affect how you are looked upon if you wanted to marry him and live in India.

I would also suggest reading some history of India, both prior to the British colonisation, during and after independence. Indians are a proud people with a vast culture and history.
