Anyone out there work for AVRO in Yorkshire in the 40s?

Avro Lancasters............factory now Leeds /Bradford Airport

I was only little at the time but my Dad had a story that I have often wondered was true. He said that they found Lancasters that had been checked as sound crashed on their first delivery as the pilot couldn't reach the pedals. Any ideas. Was he having me on ?
