Do you think he'll emerge as the winner in Iowa? Personally, I support Clinton, but I'll take Edwards over Obama anytime. How about you?

OK, this is what I found on CNN's website, but it shows a statsitical dead heat, while MSNBC reported Edwards in the lead -
Mason-Dixon
Likely Democratic Caucus Goers'
Choice for President
John Edwards 24 percent
Hillary Clinton 23 percent
Barack Obama 22 percent
Bill Richardson 12 percent
Joe Biden 8 percent
Chris Dodd 2 percent
Dennis Kucinich 1 percent

That poll is old. The ARG and Zoyby polls covering same days or later days show the Hillary is ahead by 4 to 7 points over Edwards and Obama.

First : As someone already stated what is your source? I am not sure if you are correct or not...I did read a similar question earlier today and that questioner did put down the percentages that the candidates got and Edwards, Clinton and Obama were all within a few points of each other...Any pollster will tell you that there is always a "margin of error:" of a few points so that means that this particular poll would indicate that the three candidates are all statistically tied....
Second: Polls are dumb. They are meaningless. People give intentional incorrect answers to throw off the numbers....many people just dont answer etc. I remember a few years ago in Tennessee a Senate candidate named Harold Ford was running. He was an African American and polled very well. When the race was over, he lost. It seems a lot of people didnt want to admit they were voting for the white guy so they lied and said they were voting for the black guy to seem less ignorant and intolerant.
Finally: Few people outside of Iowa are aware of how caucuses work. They get very few voters to come out, as it is unlike voting in a primary. It takes several hours of your time. There are two ballots. After the first ballot, the candidates who end up with less than a specified % of votes (I think it is 15% but am not sure) are removed from the ballot and another ballot is drawn and supporters of those candidates now have to choose a second choice candidate. This makes polling for the Iowa caucus really pretty unimportant.

I am not a Democrat or Republican. I do have great respect for the John Reid Edwards, who has a brilliant legal mind, an outstanding record during his 6 full years in the U.S. Senate, and above all, his integrity and honesty. Edwards earned his law degree and was not an Affirmative Action product. John Edwards has won many legal battles for the average, working class citizen against big corporate criminals. As an Independent, I would be comfortable with an Edward's presidency, but if Ron Paul were the nominee, I would vote for Ron Paul, because I want the U.S. Constitution resurrected and honored. I would never vote for any candidate who shows disrespect or dishonor for the American flag, such as Barack Hussein Obama,Jr. Source: TIME, October 01, 2007 edition.

I just saw this as well about 10 minutes ago. I am not a big fan of Edwards and hope he doesn't win, but the margin of error is + or - 5% so I don't think a definite winner can even be declared at this point, it is too close to call.

Hillary is nothing like Edwards. I support Obama but don't really have anything against Edwards. I appreciate the fact that neither of them (Obama and Edwards) work with lobbyists.
Edit: Did you read this at the bottom of the poll on CNN's webpage?
*NOTE: The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation rankings for Democrats are based on 467 registered voters who describe themselves as Democrats or as Independents who lean to the Democratic Party, conducted by telephone on December 6-9, 2007. Sampling error: +/- 4.5 percentage points. The CNN/Opinion Research Corporation rankings for Republicans are based on 377 registered voters who describe themselves as Republicans or as Independents who lean Republican, conducted by telephone on December 6-9, 2007. Sampling error: +/-5 percentage points. The percentages may not total 100 percent because of respondents who chose "No opinion" or "Others."

Statistically too close to call.
My preferences are Hillary, Obama, and Edwards, in that order.
I'd love to see a Hillary-Obama ticket, after the final nominations. They would TROUNCE any Republican team.
