Do u guys think that he should be traded to a Cup Condenting Team if so wht team and Y?

I think he should b traded to Minnesota or Ottawa because if he stays in Washington he will nvr win a Stanley Cup if they do make the playoffs they will lose in the first round (there Whole Team is centered around Ovechkin and Kolzig)

"Should he be traded" and "Will he be traded" are a fine line.

As a player, who WOULDN'T want to be traded to a cup contender? I know I would.

Will the Washington Capitals trade him? No. He is their franchise player and they can't afford to lose him, no matter what they might receive in return.

hes not going anywhere, the caps ar only 5 points away from contention. it took gretz 5 years before they started winning. He's not leavin DC. GM says hell match any offer. Its not centered around them anymore, they've got Semin and nylander. They are still a young team, a lot of their guys have gone back 2 back in calder cup series, they are better than their record shows and they wouldnt be in such a hole now had they not waited to fire hanlon. Everybody seems to be underestimating the caps, but this year is different, they are actaully outshooting almost every opponet. They are starting to dominate periods in way that if they played like that all game they'd be a cup conteder

He probably wishes to be traded, since Washington isnt going to win anything soon, but he wont be, because he basically is their team. Withou him, they lose everything. He will be out of there eventually though, Free Agency is too competetive to insure him being a Capital forever.

He should go to the Bruins for a 5th round draft pick, because that is basically all the B's have to offer, and I want him on my team!!! They need a goal scorer!

The Washington Capitals retain full or partial rights to Ovechkin until he
a) plays 7 years in the NHL (the earliest he becomes eligible for unrestricted free agency)
b) turns 29 (when he becomes eligible for unrestricted free agency)

Until that time, all Washington has to do is match any others team's offer to retain his rights (and Leonsis insists that they will)

People who know Leonsis have said that if he can't have something, nobody else will either. So, if Ovechkin doesn;t want to play with Washington, he probably won't be playing anywhere.

Who would have thought the 5 years ago that the Ducks would win the cup last year or Carolina the year before? That should answer your question.

Alex won't be traded unless he won't re-sign before the trade deadline of the year of his contract renewal.

If I was him I would not resign. But sign with another team. One with a lot of exciting you talent that will be blossoming in a couple of years into solid NHL'ers like Edmonton!

I wouldnt 'dis' the Caps so much. They arent that far behind the pack right now, and they do have some decent younger players (Ovie, Semin, etc.). They have as much chance to be contenders in a couple years as anyone.
