Hello!
i have a hermanns tortoise and she's 8cm long.
I went to the petshop yesterday and was looking at some lepord tortoises, when i noticed that there nails were really short and round?????
it was then that i got a bit worried because my torts nails are quite long!
do i need to cut them? if so how?

Yes you need to do it. I have had mine for 18 years and had to do at least once a year.

I have a young hermann's tort, what I have done is to bury several large flat rocks in her enclosure, so their tops are about even with the surface of the substrate. I put her food on them and she climbs all over them, that will help wear her nails and her beak down.

You can also use cement patio blocks from a home store if you can't get the right kind of rocks.

she seems to like climbing over the rocks actually, and never avoids them.

Hermann's usually have longer nails than many other species.

If you have a good habitat set-up, with a good substrate, the nails will wear themselves down naturally.

put some things that the tortoise can wear its nails sown on
Its kinda like how rats are put something they can grind down the nails on like wood rock you know stuff like that
