He has been practicing with the Flint Generals of the UHL since mid-November.
He is still on probation with the NHL's substance abuse policy and has a hearing with Colin Campbell to try and get his name cleared before he can play for the Generals.

Ex-Red Wing Darren McCarty is attempting a comeback with the Flint Generals of the United Hockey League, the Generals announced in a release.
McCarty, who helped the Wings to three Stanley Cups as part of the Grind Line will practice with the team at 10 a.m. Monday and will sign autographs at 6 p.m. before a game against Port Huron at Lapeer's Perani Arena.
McCarty last played April 7, 2006 with the Calgary Flames. The Wings did not bring him back after the 2003-04 season and the locked-out 2004-05 season. He must be cleared by the NHL before playing for the Generals.
McCarty has been skating and working out in Troy.

The person above me is right, he just signed with the Flint Generals. He will be at their game tomorrow signing autographs, but he cant play till he is cleared by the NHL.

D Mac is playing for the IHL in Flint, Michigan. The Flint Generals........wants to try and work his way back up.....
