My parents made me put my kitten up for adoption when I was 8, and it was against my will. I still think about her everyday and regret that I didn't do anything to put a stop it. Have you ever gone through this? =[

I had to give away all seven of my sweet little puppies . We only know where two of them are, even though all of the new owners promised me they'd keep in touch. My poor, sweet little puppies. I was seven at the time. They were so darn cute... I cried every time one of them left for the whole day. :(

Yes when our dog had 6 puppies, there was no way we could keep them all, German Shepard Golden Retriever mixes are not small. I still wonder how they're doing, one of them was adopted by Teacher at the time, so at least I knew one group to be healthy. I know that's not remotely the same though. I do understand why you miss her but, I don't see why you'd feel guilty if you were 8, and your parents decided to put it up for adoption there was really nothing you could do.

You mean, as in simply giving it to another person? We've done that several times, and while it hurts a little and you miss the kitten, well, for us, we know that the kitten would be better off in an indoor situation than being outdoors at our house. We live about a mile out of town and we have wildlife out here and we lose a lot of kitties. So when we give them away, they're much better off.

The only animals I've ever put up for adoption were at a serious risk of me murdering them if we tried to continue under the same roof.

That's horrible. When I was a kid that happened a couple of times. Though, now in my adult life I have kitties that I would never want to put up for adoption and won't. =)
