I forgive but never forget....

My grandmother tried to get me to understand I was only doing the job 1/2 right by only forgiving.

Sometimes, its best not to forget, in case you travel that path again....

I can forgive since I am a very understanding and caring person, but it is hard to forgive when someone doesn't even acknowledge they have done something to hurt you.
Forget? I don't think that is honestly possible. You can stop referring to it and put it to back of your mind, but you still remember what happened. I think it is good to remember since it is a learning experience.

I can forgive, but if I forget that means I'll probably go thru this painful experience again down the road, so I remember it as a learning experience, and I keep reminding myself that I forgave because there is so much that I need to be forgiven for. But I don't forget

It is human nature to forget most things fairly easily.
Forgiveness is an acquired skill.
I think I've learned the nature of both over the years quite well.
Yes...

You're right, though, if something is traumatic enough and ingrained on your psyche forever it is difficult to forget and to really forgive, and we try not to repeat history, if possible.

Yes but I guess it depends. Most arguments I tend to forgive easily and usually forget about it quickly. Only in instances when someone has done something that hurts my family do I tend to not forget.

For minor stuff, definitely forgive and forget. For major stuff that causes you pain, definitely forgive because it's good for you, but even if you try, you can't entirely forget. It's basic instinct.

LIke many people it is fairly easy to forgive people but really hard to forget. I so wish that it was as easy to forget hurts as it is easy to forgive people that hurt us. I am hurting right now and it will be hard to forget these hurts, I can tell you that.
