I had my first baby at 35 weeks and thought for sure this one would come early too. I'm 38 wks today and confused as to when it's true labor. My contractions seem to be very strong and regular at night. It feels like I'm being squeezed around my back, ribs, and abdomen. It's hard to breath and they even wake me up. I went to the hospital when I thought they were about 5 minutes apart and was sent home. That was a week ago. I'm so miserable because I can't sleep and so uncomfortable. Any advise?

It could very well be braxton hicks contractions. I have had two children and had the very same thing happen to me. You should wait and you will know its the real thing when you start showing signs of "blood" from your private. Then you know, its really time to go to the hospital. I didn't make it, my labor was extremely fast with my first baby, and ended having her in the ambulance.

just wait it out...they will get even harder use this time to practice relaxing and breathing through the discomfort...try waliking sitting standing and lying down to see if anything changes the contractions if they are consistent and last for over an hour go see your delivery person again, It is common for it to happen in the evening when you are more tired try resting in the middle of the day and I wish you the best!! Drink lots of water and juice...you will know when it is time
