i just got done building my computer i hooked everything up and when i put power to it nothing happens dont turn on no fans moving or anything i have a at31 motherboard what could be the problem just brought a new power supply

Power button is defective or may not be properly connected to motherboard. Check the connection or try switching directly on the board by shorting with small screw driver the 2 pins that connects to power switch. Observe power supply fan. If it just spins for a second or two then stops, motherboard could be grounded to case. You may have to remount motherboard.

Also try a bare set up to test your build. Even without FDD, HDD and CD drive, bare PC should be able to beep once, display POST and open BIOS menu.

Check your jumper settings, hopefully you got a book with the MB. Also check to make sure your power supply is set for 110 NOT 220 (that one comes from experience).
I hope you made sure the PS you bought goes with the mother board. I have seen some mother boards with a reset, when it is disconnected from power it has to be reset, take a good look at the boot that came with your board.

check power cables to the board, and also double check that the leads for the power button are on the correct terminals on the motherboard (follow them from the button and ensure they are on the ones that the mobo manual says)

thats strange, shud work, have you connect the psu properly, the power connector with the power supply. and is it placed properly, are the switches on??
