International student background check?

I'm an international student and I was recently convicted of a misdemeanor.

I've been trying to find my criminal record in various background check sites but I can't find my name. I think because I don't have a SSN.
How will a company do a background check for me?

They probably wont do a background check since you arent a US citizen. No one really cares about misdemeanors so it shouldnt be a problem. Depending on the job and the company, some hire private firms to investigate your references and education.
