It is interessting because a politican has two terms to get everything done or they will never again get a chance. This means that they rush into things that they shouldn't and spend much more then they have to.
In this sense it would acually be better to live under a monarchy were soverty is passed down from generation to generation. At least then there would be some sort of motivation for a leader to make the resources of the country last.
At least under monarchy you only have to dispose of a small group of people when your rights are violated.
