My Jetta was sitting on an angle for a week and when I came home and tried to start the car it would only crank but not start.

I have a computer and have checked for DTCs but there are none. The car was running fine prior to leaving it for a week.

Could this be a battery thing? Even though the engine is cranking if the battery amps are too low would this cause the engine to not turn over?

Thanks

Yeap it could be the battery. I have same problem after leaving pick up sitting for several days.
Battery will turn it over but no fire the plugs.
Have to charge battery every time. Oh! it is a new battery, less than two months old.
You have to keep in mind on newer vehicles the electronics is constantly drawing power from the battery even when the car is turned off.
You might want to check the water level in the battery. And fill with distilled water if low before charging.
Here is something else I have ran across. This is with Wal Mart Batteries: If your car is going to be sitting for periods of time don't get their so-called best battery (the yellow cased ones) they'll crap out every time you leave the car sitting. If you have to get a Wal Mart battery and you car is going to be sitting for periods get the black ones.
You can run the black ones down so far they will not even turn on the dome light and still recharge them. With the yellow ones if they are discharged that low they for some reason will not take a recharge.
Learned that the hard way with my tractor. That's why I use the black ones on my tractor instead of the yellow ones. Tractor a lot of times sits several months at a time in winter without being started.

The battery only runs the starter. If your headlights and radio are working fine, it's probably not the battery. It could be water in the gas. Try adding some "Dry Gas." If that doesn't work, go ahead and try jumping it.
