No. Brick is usually made of clay or crushed stone. As such, it allows some water absorption. In addition, water does leak around bricks in constructed edifices, particularly where the masonry joins. The mortar leaks, in other words.
I have some loose bricks in my yard, and they have absorbed enough water that they are heavier than the dry one I have inside of the same age and origin. So - bricks absorb water, and are not waterproof, although they make a pretty exterior!

Not sure what you mean by waterproof- Do you mean will they contain water, or will water damage them?
Bricks soak up water like a sponge, and just like a sponge, water can come out the other side of a wet brick wall.
However, the water won't melt the bricks. They will dry out and be just fine. Bricks are an ideal material for garden walks or edging because they will last for many years out in the weather.

not at all. I layed bricks for 6 years and will be the first to tell you no. There are how ever waterproofing agents you can use to make them "water resistant" just ask at the local hardware store. on average a solid standard brick can absorb 1 gallon of water if it is completely dry and gain 10 lbs of weight from it. for most applications bricks don't need to be waterproof , i guess i will depend on your application. in new home construction concrete blocks are coverd with a tar like agent to make them waterproof, but this is only for the blocks that are below grade level , once again just ask at the local hardware

Bricks are not "waterproof" however you can buy sealant. I have brick front steps (lots of them) and a brick front porch. After the mortar was dry I bought a can of brick/masonry sealant and put it on as directed... 2 coats... Each spring I pour water on the flat part of the bricks. If the water beads up I don't need to reseal the bricks. If it does not bead up it's time to break out the brush and can of sealant and reseal the bricks. So far.... five years... the sealant is still holding up!

I'm sure you've gotten your answer, but to reiterate, no they're not waterproof. Depending on your use, there are some sealants that can help with waterproofing. In particular I like Krystal Brilliance paver and sealer. I use this for my front steps which are quite old.
