Cruel to eat animals, NO. But it would be cruel to eat pets. :)

I find jerky too sweet, so eat the South African version "biltong" instead
EDIT: To the veggie - How the hell is it cruel to eat meat -
1) THE ANIMAL IS DEAD
2) WE EVOLVED TO EAT MEAT - SO IT'S NATURAL - It's the veggie diet that is unnatural

I've had it and it's very good. I can't make it though, but have made jerky with beef many a times.
