keeps us young
when people grow old they become jaded and take things for how they are. Children, however, do not know how things work and why things happen, so their imaginations create ideas. children are aware they do not know, and so they use their imaginations to fill in blanks. This is called the "Faculty of Wonder"
Imagine a little toddler sitting at the table with his mom and dad. His mom heads to the kitchen, and suddenly his dad begins to levitate. The kid thinks it is great fun, but is not shocked by it. He sees his dad cut grass with a big noisy toy, watches his mom suck up cheerios with a tube, and watches the barber cut off hair with a block. To him this is nothing extraordinary, because nothing is ordinary to him. However the mother comes back in the room, screams, and faints. She knows it is not ordinary to fly, rather very extraordinary. She has become jaded, and everything in her world is habitual, nothing astounds her. Due to this anything extraordinary is shocking.
The son has the "faculty of wonder," the power of imagination. because of this his flying dad is nothing spectacular, he sees birds do it and cartoons do it, and he imagines flight in his dreams, so his dad's flight is very normal. The mother does not have the power to imagine, and the shock of the flying father gives her a heart attack.

Imagination is a tool that you use to create what lies in your thoughts and heart. With imagination you can see visually what others cannot, you can go for it, chase it, make it real.
