At the well known child store, Libby Lu, there was a contest where the big prize was tickets and airfare to a New York concert of Hannah Montana's. To get the prize, children wrote essays on why they should get the tickets and the best one would win the prize. Libby Lu picked a 6 year old girl whose opening line of the essay was"My daddy died this year in Iraq." The essay was very heart warming. Later, there was a check run on the father of the child because of the man's name being so unfamiliar. When the check was run, not only was there no name of the man dying on the certain day, there was no name of the man ever dying in Iraq. The mother made the whole thing up! Just to get Hannah Montana tickets! Now there are talks of taking the tickets away. Now, my point it, yes, it's a shame the innocent girl will not go to the concert, but I believe the tickets should be taken away so the mom can explain to her why they were taken away. Anyone agree?

If she really lied then yes, I think the tickets should be taken away. Or the little girl should be allowed to attend the concert with a different chaparone.
However......I did a search on the story and everything I read said that it was suspected that the story had some inaccuracies but no one could prove that the father had not died. His death is not recorded for the day in the essay. But as many of us unfortunately know, not everything is recorded or reported on the proper day. The mother was criticized for walking out of the store after people started asking her daughter questions about her father's death. If it was my kid, I wouldn't want her to have to answer those questions in public either.
I am not saying the mother is innocent, I'm just staying I couldn't find anything that said she is definitely guilty. So I'm going to withold judgement on her. I hope she wouldn't make up such a horrible lie to get a concert ticket.

That mother has alot of explaining to do if you ask me. Its not right for a kid to lie like that just for some Hannah Montana tickets. They should take the tickets away, I know whats mean to the little girl but otherwise she might make a habit of lieing to the public and that would only hurt her worse in the end.

To further this the mother was interviewed and said that no where on the contest rules did it say that the essay had to be real, and that no where in the essay did the child say the story was real. The mother and child have entered other essay contests with fictional essays. Now that is sad.

I think the tickets should be taken away. The little girl lied saying that her father died and it really didn't happen. if someone did something wrong they should take the previllges away.

wow- that is a sad story! i agree that the mom should be penalized somehow ( it is not only bad parenting- it seems like a dishonor to those soldiers that really were killed in Iraq..)however, i see the quandrary because it most probably is an innocent girl, like you said, who does not deserve punishment for her mom's disgusting actions. It's a tough decision either way...

don't be dramatic. that's actual that lots of father and mother have misplaced their minds, yet i do no longer likely see a tragic concern. and that i do no longer see something undesirable approximately "relationship" at 11 years previous, as a results of fact they in all probability propose conserving their palms or have lunch togheter. all and sundry had a weigh down at that age. with reference to the 2nd question, right here i accept as true with you rather lots, yet i think of that issues like that take place infrequently, i've got no longer met yet a 13 previous having sleepover at his/her boyfriend or lady pal living house. i began out relationship whilst i exchange into 13-14 years previous, with my first boyfriend, and of direction my mom did no longer comprehend that. i've got continually been the form of robust liar to her ,no longer as a results of fact she does no longer have allowed me,yet as a results of fact i do unlike whilst human beings innovations my businnes.
