I love the name Veronica - I chose it as my confirmation name (the only name I've ever gotten to choose for myself!) - but do not call the child "Baby."

I don't think I've ever seen that movie all the way through, but I seem to recall that "Baby" DIDN'T LIKE being called "Baby." You should take that as a clue.

I love the name Veronica.

My guess is that the nickname Baby won't work much past the years when she legitimately *is* a baby. Most small children learn to class themselves as a "big kid" and anyone even slightly smaller as a "baby." My son is quite insistent that he's *not* a baby - and he's just turned three.

Dirty Dancing was a coming of age story - keeping, then finally shedding Baby was a symbolic act. Like many things on the screen both large and small, it doesn't translate well to real life.

But go with Veronica - it's a great choice, and Nica and Vee make good nicknames.

I'm going to go against the crowd and say that I love Veronica. It makes such a refreshing change from all the tidal wave of Mackenzies, Kaycee's, A'Leeesha etc you hear about being born every second in this country.
Just remember nicknames can stick, just be sure you're making a good choice with Baby.

Well,
I think you should name her after someone important in you life or after something that has a lot of meaning in your life.
But Veronica is a very cute name, im just not sure she'll want to be called "baby" at 12-30 years old...you know?

I do not think it is a good idea to call her baby. I do not care for the name Veronica but there is nothing wrong with it.

Veronica is cute, but don't call her "baby" unless it's like an endearment thing once in a while. To make that her permanent nickname is pretty cruel to be honest, lol.

Veronica is a perfectly fine name, Baby isn't. What 12 year old kid is named Baby?

I adore the name Veronica. But think about this if you call her baby when she gets about seven or eight she will not like the name baby at all. Call her Ronnie or Veto. Good luck!

Veronica is a very pretty name and what you choose for a nickname is up to you. Many people call their kids baby when they are small. My daughter got dubbed "pumpkin" by her dad and it stuck with his family to this day and she is 32 now.
