yeah my dog is really good at doing that to me. she just suddenly starts barking and i think a bomb has gone off snap out of sleep...i make it go away by shouting at her...then go look to see if there is anything outside...usually there isnt...

ahh i HATE that w/ a passion, i usually have to just lay in my bed and close my eyes and breathe in and out slowly
