As we are growing older, we have mellowed. My brothers and sisters and my family have been getting together these last few New Year's for eating, a few drinks and some games and movies all night. Everyone ends up falling asleep where they are and when we get up, we all have a huge hot breakfast and everyone goes home.
Last year it was at my home, but this year my mother has asked for it to be at her home. (my parents had not attended these parties in the past)..... she is quite excited. This is the first holiday season for us since my dad passed away last July, so things have been different.

blessings and happy new year!!

When I was in the Army Band, and before that a professional musician, New Years Eve was the big pay day for the rest of the year. We would celebrate the day afterwards, but it was a work day for me. Now, we stay at home and watch movies or have a few quiet friends over. When the big ball drops we flip over to the channel that is showing it dropping, and then go back to whatever we were doing, usually a game of scrabble or a jam session with a couple of old buddies. Sometimes the kids call and wish us well, or some friends from overseas call to touch base, but usually it's pretty quiet and friendly. If you drop in, make sure you have our number in case you get lost. I usually have to come at get somebody from a couple miles away at least once. Happy New Years right back atcha and remember that resolutions are no fun to break unless you make them in the first place!

We used to dress up and take the four children to a very fancy restaurant. Now that they are adult, we have everyone over (kids as well as adults) for games, singing, great food and invite anyone that knocks at the door to come in and join the festivities. We wait for the ball to drop in Time Square, toast with champagne and light fireworks leftover from the 4th of July in the middle of the snow. We wind down and by 2 am, everyone is ready to head on home. The best part is being together and hugging Happy New Year to everyone. By the way, Happy New Year to all! Taking off tonight (Sunday) on a very late train to Boston. Good Cheer to all!

I usually just stay up and watch some celebration on t.v. whichever has the best guests. Never been too big on making a big deal over New Years. But I like to see it ring in and see other people celebrate.

Sometimes I go out for dinner and dancing but if I do it is at a hotel and I plan on staying the night, I don't like being out on the road on New Years Eve/Day. This year we are just staying in.

Drink, LOL!

Edit: I mean the usual thing as always, drinking is our celebration and most enjoyable part besides going to the pub, some party, gathering, visit, walk, concert, restaurant etc.

Eat, drink, and be merry - and hold hands to dance in a ring and sing Auld Lang Zyne or whatever at midnight, if we haven't found something better to do like go to bed early and cuddle.
