ok, so like 5-6 months ago i had a bunny, he was about 1.5 years old. I dont know if i had given him the proper care or what, but he died. I feel real bad and have learned my lesson but my parents DONT think so. I've had only 1 or 2 animals in the past that depended on my care and i really didnt know what to do and how to do it, i had a hamster about 3 years ago, and she lived for almost 5 years and i cared for it the same way i did the bunny but the bunny did not live. I dont know if it was the care that i wasnt giving him, but i noticed he had a bloody stool a few times a week, and that his testicles were not filled out, and at 1.5 years that didnt seem right, I want to get another pet(guinea pig) but my parents dont think im ready to have another pet, but i think i am and that ive learned my lesson.

I agree with your parents as it stands now you are officially a pet serial killer.

As harsh as this may sound, I don't think you deserve another pet. You didn't take your bunny to the vet and it had blood in it's stool. That really just isn't right. I praise your parents. Also, you are without a doubt making it sound like your hamster lived longer than it did. The oldest hamster to ever live didn't make it to see four years. Nice bluff. Also, a hamster and a rabbit have two completely different life styles and care needed.

Maybe before you get a new pet. decide what kind you want and go to the library and check out some books about caring for that type of animal. That will show your parents you are serious about caring properly for the animal. You need to be ready to take care of it and you admitted in your question that you cared for the rabbit like you did for the guinea pig, but the rabbit was NOT a guinea pig. So that was a mistake. Whatever you decide you want, you need to be ready ahead of time to take care of it.

It will be like your baby, depending on you for everything. And parents, who are awaiting a child, have diapers ready, a nursery ready, clothing ready, etc. You need to be ready too. Then maybe your parents will think you are ready too. Good luck.

wow, i'm sorry about your rabbit. Firstly, when you saw that your bunny had a bloody stool, you should have taken him to the vet as quickly as possible. Unfortunately, bunnies are big responsibilities, and parents are hard to please. If you want a guinea pig, it's best to do tons of research before making up your mind. It may take awhile, but you will have to teach you parents that you now have the responsibility to take care of another pet. take up a bunch of chores around the house, focus on your grades (if you have to) and let them see that you are doing these things because you are responsible, not because you want something.
If you really want this, your parents will be able to see it.

good luck =)

There may have been something wrong with the bunny from the start. I think you know whether you properly cared for the bunny. If not you should not get another pet. If you did care for it properly then maybe another pet would not hurt. However, your parents know best. If they believe, you are not ready, accept their advice, and move on.

As i said in the question you posted two minutes ago

Considering that even with basic care a rabbit could live for around three years it does seem like something was...lacking.

Any animal that you own is your responsibility; you need to learn about the animal; diet & proper feeding, exercise, whether it needs neutered, vaccinations or wormed, how long it will live, how much space it needs, whether it needs companionship.

I would suggest you first show your parents you can do the above, and be prepared to properly care for an animal, before asking for another one.

Sometimes animals get sick even when you take good care of them, just like humans. When your bunny got sick, hopefully you told your parents and they took your bunny to the vet. Parents are supposed to help you out a little bit. They are parents. You are a kid. So, I say, get another pet.

I'm also wondering whether you studied up a little bit on how to care for a bunny. Bunnies get stressed out if there's lots of noise and little brothers and sisters running around screaming. Do your research on how to take care of a guinea pig before you get it.

Below is a link to how to take care of a bunny. Maybe you could read it and try to figure out if you did something wrong.

If you think that you are ready to have another pet then just make sure that you will have time to spend with your pet because they do need a lot of care and attention and also make sure you know the pets proper diet so that you know he is getting everything he needs.
If your parents still don't think your ready and responsible enough then you're just going to have to prove to them in other ways that you are.
Hope I helped good luck :)

Instead of something like a guinea pig maybe a cat or dog something that can fend for themselves a little.
Also enlist your parents in helping care for them as well. Make it more of a family pet instead of just your pet.
That is my idea on the subject, of you getting another pet, for what it is worth.

Well, it most likely wasn't your fault it died. It could've had something wrong with it because of the blood. I think you should have another chance, but maybe you should wait about a month, you never know, you might like it more without a pet to take care of.

You have to go by what your parents say. I think you should have another chance though. Ask your parents if you can have some fish, at least it would be something, and if you take care of them good, maybe they would eventually let you have something else. Caring for animals is a good way to show responcibility.
