There's just no way a Republican can win against Obama or Clinton. So, why waste taxpayers money on the election if they can put the money to better use, like Bush favorite war Iraq?

Republicans other than Ron Paul are pretty much wasting their time, and our money, if they used matching funds IMO. Obama has a shot, slim at best, but Hillary is not well liked even in her own party, let alone the Republican and other independent/3rd party voters.

Yep. With all the blunders George W. Bush has done I don't think people trust Republicans anymore. And besides all Republicans have done in this election is show that they're desperate to get the people's trust back. Either Hilary, Obama, or Edwards are capable of winning this election.
And I am tired of Republicans bringing up the '04 election. It was 3 3/4 years ago. Back then we didn't have that report on Bush's criminal record or anything like that so we wouldn't have known Bush was a total wreck and we would have voted for him because of that.

P.S: Obama is not an anti-American pro-Muslim white hater. He is probably the most compassionate, caring, America-loving candidate we have.

For an answerer above, the polls actually had Bush ahead of Kerry for most of the year, including at the end.

The reality is that people vote in November not January. A lot can change over ten months. I have trouble seeing them change enough to give the Republicans a comfortable win, but it can certainly change enough to make the election close.

It is by no means a done deal (no matter how it may look at the moment) that a Democrat will be elected President. But the real contest will be in the House and the Senate -- where one may hope that enough Republicans may be elected to keep the Democrats from spending the country into bankruptcy.

Yes, but they are just following through according to the political system. It is time to get the Republicans out of the White House and get Hillary in office so this country can start to heal. Voting for a Republican will only be a vote to continue the war. Let's get our soldiers home.

hmm, plenty of hatred spewed toward Hillary Clinton, as for Republicans, they all have huge negative factors too. A Republican winning President is a bit less than 50% now, but not that much less.

There is NO way Hillary or Obama will win this election! The media is making a big deal out of them! Because they are basing there biased opinion off of polls! And guess what polls are inaccurate! Kerry was winning in the polls against Bush in 2004, but Bush obviously won the election!

As a Democrat, this confidence that the Republicans can't win makes me very nervous. Unfortunately we live in a still racist, sexist country and I fear that, once the election is at hand, the bigots, racists and sexists of the country may come out of the woodwork to vote in droves for someone like Guliani.

Democrats have to be VERY careful not to take this election for granted. Too much is at stake!

To answer your question;

No, we are not wasting our time. Remember in 2004, the night before the election Kerry was going to beat GW Bush by 5% by all the polls.
