I took a pregnancy test a week and a half ago which was positive. I probably conceived at the end of October which is 9 weeks ago, but when I typed in the dates for a calender it said i would be nearer 11 weeks. I had some spotting from Christmas day til 28th on the friday. But I have had much heavier bleeding and pains on saturday and today. I have passed a lot of clots and had heavy bleeding, but I just took another pregnancy test and it was still positive. Is this due to the hormones that were in my blood? I haven't told anyone about my situation so can't go to hospital. When should I take another test to see what is happening? Many thanks.

Hi, it sounds to me like you have had a miscarriage.

A positive result can still be read on a pregnancy test for up to two weeks after a miscarriage (i can only assume this is because the hcg hormones still remain in your body after a miscarriage).

I would strongly suggest that you go to a hospital where they will be able to tell you for sure if you have miscarried or not (they will give you an ultrasound scan).

I have had two previous miscarriages so i can sympathise with you, but if you have suffered a miscarriage then you may need to be monitored to see that you get no complications as a result of this miscarriage, so please go to a hospital or talk to your doctor at the very least.

well, there is a higher chance of miscarrying between week 9 and 11 because the hormones which are produced by the corpus luteum are then produced by the placenta. this switch of where the hormones are produced causes this higher risk, therefore it could be that you did miscarry. however, this will not be shown on a pregnancy test yet, because the hormones will still remain in your body for quite a while. You better make an apointment with your doc. a sonogram could show if you miscarried or not. good luck and wish you all the best.

No matter if you are misscarrying or not, taking a pregnancy test will show up positive, because you were pregnant and if you are in the process ofmiscarrying, you are still pregnant. Clot's is not a good sign, and you need to see someone as soon as possible, for it isn't good for you either. Get some medical help.

sounds like a miscarriage but then again some women bleed and there baby is just fine i would try to get an app asap so they can see if your hormones are dropping if they are your miscarring if they are rising your fine.. also a pregnancy test could still show up positive for awhile even if your losing the baby..

It will keep saying positive until your hormones change. But it sounds like you are having a miscarriage. Go to the hospital get checked out.

Only a Doctor could say for sure by the level of hormone in your system. If a home pregnancy test gave you level of hormones, then you could tell that way as they would reduce over a period of hours I am sure.
The heavy clots could have been a miscarriage.

Sorry if it was.

It is possible you could have miscarried. The hcg levels in your blood would still make you test positive. However some women still have their periods during pregnancy. You need to see your doctor to be sure. They can do a blood test and ultrasound. Good luck.

If you are passing clots then it's definately a miscarriage. The hormone stays in your system for a little while after a m/c. Sorry for your loss.
