I wouldn't say cute? Altho' hairy-bum drones are quite funny to watch - with fluffy bums and NO sting.
Bees are magnificent and fascinating - and at the heart of human food chain.
and as a man who handles thousands I can assure readers - bees do not seek to sting - there are very limited situations when bees sting, almost always when someone gets in flight path or stands on a bee.
Bee stings are not that painful so try this to prove it - find a bee on a clover patch (or lie in clover) and gently and quietly proffer a hand or finger for a bee to crawl on - or assist one out of water.
The bee will sit calmly and dry its wings - or simply smell your pheromones. If you're not a threat, bees are gorgeous to get close to and study - and the greatest risk is that you'll become utterly absorbed and become a beekeeper. In the USA there is a real shortage so think about it - lastly, it was amusing to note that Seinfeld gave MALE voices to the worker bees in the Bee Movie - when of course the workers are all females.

I love bees, yes I do think they look nice, and cute, and I would never knowingly do them any harm, I do not think insects are a lower class than humans, I put myself on a par with them.
But I particularly like Bees and Wasps, neither have ever stung me, and I have saved a wasp from being killed by allowing it to walk onto my hand, and walking out of a building with it on my hand.

i have no problems with bees and i love honey but word is that mobile phone signals are affecting all the bee homing instincts anyway and thus killing them off at an alarming rate-so maybe there won't be any left soon for you to worry about...

I kept bees for over thirty years and they are endlessly fascinating, in the end I developed an allergy to their stings which could have been fatal, so I gave my hives and equipment to my nephew who is a professional beekeeper.

Yes, they are great lil bugs... I'm fine with them in groups smaller that 10 or 15 as long as they're engaged in some pollination, but I avoid them when they swarm.
They're great for our walnut and apple trees and for our veggies and flowers.
A bug I DON'T like... wasps and hornets !!
