i'm a translator and proofreader yet i do no longer maximum appropriate human beings on the internet till asked to using fact those that are no longer linguistically minded do exactly no longer care, that's a waste of time, and it only gets on their nerves. That stated, unfavorable grammar, spelling, and punctuation is disturbingly wide-unfold by the internet, different human beings see it, and, understanding not greater acceptable, reproduction it; and so the vicious circle is going on till unfavorable English is the norm (if that's no longer already). i could could desire to give up my activity to maximum appropriate each and every of the blunders I see in an afternoon's surfing: this web site is complete of blunders (no longer alongside with the intentional ones), as many from the preachers of excellent grammar as from the defenders of illiteracy; the shortcoming or overuse of the apostrophe being the worst (2 Weeks' observe or 2 Weeks observe? confident, even Warner Bros go incorrect, so what wish for something human beings?). And what can we do while even respected web pages like the BBC are rife with blunders? by utilising the way, the spell examine is wise yet no longer acceptable. I very almost positioned "particularly my activity" using fact my hands are constantly racing forward typing straightforward words in the previous my concepts reaches them to tell them what they could desire to certainly be typing. The spell examine does no longer have picked that up. It probably does no longer %. up all unfavorable punctuation the two, e.g. the version between that's and its. This internet site is unquestionably no longer that undesirable while in comparison with many boards i've got considered, so in line with threat some tolerance could desire to be exercised.

Because when a question is horribly misspelled, written so badly it's almost impossible to figure out what is being asked, and uses improper punctuation that literally changes the meaning, it gives the impression that the person who is writing the question isn't very bright. If that's OK with you, fine, but it sure would bother me. You can't expect to be taken seriously when you write like a 5-year-old.

It shows respect for the people you want to answer your questions. Yes every person misspells from time to time. Even with proofreading not all mistakes are caught. Proofreading is an acquired art for it to be done well. When a question has so much misspelling and abbreviations sometimes I have to study and study to decide what the questioner is asking. Personally I like to put my best foot forward not my worst and I like the respect of my peers. I would really hate for them to think I was such a dumbas* I could not even show respect for myself.

I suppose it is because sometimes the question isn't even clear to the answerer because the spelling is SO bad. Except for the omission of the apostrophes in the word "can't", and lack of a question mark after the first sentence, your question is quite correct.

Because part of a person's personality is in their writing behavior. It is very distracting to try to read a question with improper spelling or punctuation. (You didn't put the apostrophe in "don't", by the way.) Sometimes a word is misspelled and it changes the question totally. (there vs. their, or two vs. to vs. too)

You know, when I read a question that is completely spelled wrong or contains abbreviated words or numbers like 4 instead of "for", it honestly makes me worry about the question asker as a person. I don't mean to be a total ***** when commenting on it. I guess I just want that person to know that it makes them look ignorant and makes me, as an answerer, take them less seriously.

Because half the crap people write, nobody can understand. They should be thankful this site offers a spell check, which you should of used.
Save the slang and lazy spelling for a chat room or something.

Poor spelling makes you look like an idiot!

Well, I think that BECAUSE most people hate to bother with spelling is why we are so poorly self-functioning in that area. Since lots of people have spell check, they don't have to worry about it. But what happens when you will really need it someday? And also, when you don't use the correct spelling and puncuation, you just sound really dumb. Super, mega dumb.

I don't find it so hard to understand. This is a site dedicated to words, their proper usage, spelling, and such. When the question itself demonstrates exactly those problems, it is probably natural for answerers, who gravitate here to help with those problems, to immediately focus on them. It is probably unfair and even a bit cruel when the misspelling is a questioner's, but if it is an answerer, I would say it is fair game, wouldn't you?

Because if people want the courtesy of a thoughtful answer, they should have the courtesy to post a well-worded, proper question.
Its NOT that hard to use spell check....or avoid abbreviations like dat, u, or 4.
