they were mass produced and had the same materials as most other classic cars however i cant find any for sale

It's like any old car. Even though they were mass produced, many got wrecked and many died and were sent to junkyards. Over time their numbers were thinned out. Now all the nice ones that survived are in people's collections.

A lot of Skylarks gave up their engines for dune buggies and VW bug (alum blocked engines if I remember right).
There are some out there, just like there are Plymouth Valiants out there also. But many just became razor blades.

Thankfully, most of these dinosaurs are extinct and retired somewhere. They were gas-guzzlers with old technology that was unsafe at most speeds and, to the best of my knowledge, didn't even have rear disc brakes. Rear wheel drive cars of that era were uncontrollable by today's standards and should only be driven in parades at slow speeds.
