It doesn't pick. It merely gives you the option that if a similar question already exsists in the Yahoo Answers database, you don't have to lose points by asking it again. No one is trying to control you Simon. Don't let your overactive imagination get the better of you.

We are asking q's, just within the limits and boundaries that Yahoo set. Not exactly fair and I don't necessarily like it but it does mean there is less chance of us offending others. After all, there are some pretty dumb q's being asked!

it doesn't pick questions we can ask it just puts a limit on what we can say ie: we cannot be too controversial or offensive,its not too much of what you say but the way in which you say it!
i do agree that it is becomming a "nanny" state though

Do you mean the question the asker can answer themselves? That's because we are looking for different opinions, but like to have our ideas confirmed. Yahoo doesn't pick the answers, most of the time the asker picks the best answer.

You are free to use as many question marks as you want (though I'm not sure why you want to use so many).

There are literally millions questions that you could ask, there's just a few rules that you need to follow, just like any endeavor that includes so many people.

It or they don't pick. There has to be some kind of guidelines or it would just be chaos and not a learning, fun or helpfull experience.
